Final Reflection

In my internship my goals were that I had to complete my 125 hours within ten weeks and learn something helpful for my future. I achieved those goals by going there every day on time. The important skill that I learned is how to handle the kids and how to understand them. I had a very friendly relationship with my supervisor and this gave me confidence for work in my future. When I started my internship, I felt like an adult because
worked in a professional way.
My most memorable moment was the first and the last day of my internship. I was very nervous on my first day because I had to read a book aloud for the kids. This was my first time and I did it beautifully. The last day was so special for me because the whole class and teacher gave me surprise. They gave me a present and a beautiful card in which every kid wrote something for me. Then the whole class asked me to read the card in the class. All the kids surrounded me and were so cute and smiley and they hugged me. So it was very memorable for me.
My thoughts are so positive about jobs, careers, and the professional world. I want to be a professional fashion designer and start my career after completing my education. After high school I want to be in college. The biggest challenge that I faced was to understand the kids’ writing and answer their questions in an understandable way.
If I have to start a brand new internship next week, the two things I would do differently are that to teach kids about designing how to make patterns and designs. The second thing is to read book with kids slowly so they can understand everything.
The advice I will give to the next interns is that they will have to be patient while working with kids and make a friendly relationship with them. I will miss the staff whom I worked with and the cute little kids. They were all so nice.

Thank You Letter

May 22, 2012

Dear Ms. Lotz,

From all my respect, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for hosting me during my internship over the last few months.  I really enjoyed working with you and it was a pleasure because you gave me the opportunity to enhance my professional skills. You and your staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.

I am thankful to you for teaching me how to be organized. I learned how to manage my time while doing internship. Working at The Academy of Talented Scholars also helped me in my studies because I learned new words and new information. For example, I learned the word pachyderm, Stifled, Aspirations and learned how to use Printing paper machine and many other things.

If there is ever anything I could do for you or the rest of the team, please let me know. I will miss the relationship I have formed with you.

With my most sincere thanks,

Rimsha Rani

Photo Essay

This is the picture of my supervisor Ms Lotz which is on the right side, and the class teacher Mrs Wohl which is on the left side. Both are so nice and  friendly. They helped me a lot whenever I asked something from them they taught me in a good way.

I took this picture while helping students in the class.I was a teacher's assistant.  Everyday when I went for the internship I helped kids in their writing. If they wrote wrong spellings I help them to make it correct with sound.

This is the special reading area in the class that is behind the tables where I read the book with only one kid each day, and other students also read by themselves. Kids love to read with me.

While I taught Mathematics to kids in their extended day, i took this picture. This is the part of my job, and I love to do it. If the kids had problem and did not know how to do I helped them to solve the problem.

I took the picture of the printing paper machine because sometimes I assisted with various administrative tasks to print papers. when I first came there, I didn't know how to use it but my supervisor taught me how to use this machine. Now I knew how to use it and learned how it worked.

Midpoint Reflection

My internship is at Academy of talented Scholars School. The primary service is that children are learned knowledge and this school gave children’s good future and implement effective classroom lessons. Teachers provide individual and small group lessons. My expectation for my internship is different because I thought that kids will not be cooperative and friendly. They will not understand me because this was my first time to work with the kids. However, after just spending one week with the kids, my thoughts changed because I feel comfortable while teaching them because they are very friendly and smart kids.
The similarity between my internship and school is that I learned things. At school I learned from books and teachers and at internship I learned from kids and different peoples and build confidence that am very helpful for my future. The second similarity is that we have five mint break and my internship students also have five mints break. The skills that I learned at my internship are to be patient. I thought it’s very helpful not only to handle the kids but also very helpful in others situations and for every job. And the other skill is that I learned how to handle the kids and how to work with them and understand them.
My relationship with my mentor and coworkers is great. They are very helpful, kind and friendly. My mentor taught me how to work with kids and handle them. The communication skills that I gained at my internship is that before I did not speak confidently but now I speak confidently and I improved my English as well and learned new words. I have been grown a lot of interacting with professional adults by communicating with them and became responsible. We have to behave with everyone in a mannered way and dressed professionally.
One challenge that I faced during this internship is to understand children’s because they speak very fast. My internship schedule is very comfortable because I get home as same as before my internship. So I have enough time to finish my homework and projects. My primary goal is too learned as much as possible and secondary goal is to gain more experience. By going to this internship I learned how to use the bus when I am alone.
